Bad Adjustment |
August 1st, 2012 01:50:09 pm, posted by Michael Hoff |
I agree with the previous answer on posibly the wrong part, as far as defective, I don't believe that to be the issue, as the valving in the older cars cylinders are extreamly simple. One other possible issue is the Rod adjustment, remember this is a 40 year old car, the replacement parts sometimes are dicontinued and one that is the closest is used, this lessens the amount of stock that a retailer has to carry and the different units that have to be made. As far as the rod adjustment goes, if the rod is too tight than the brakes will be applied to far up when you are pushing down on the peddle, one turn on the rod goes a long way as the leverage is multiplied bu the piviot points. This is a common adjustment for shops that do a lot of brake repairs, I have performed this prociedure no less than 10 times. I am a general technition ASE Cerified in Brakes, Heating and A/C, Automatic Trans, Engine Repair, and Engine Performance.
