1928 Model A Boattail Speedster
1928 Ford Model A boat tail speedster. Not a kit car, not a rad rod, nor built for racing. Built to honor old veteran racing and my love for the sport. All steel and built from the frame up using a Morton-Brett design that won the 1931 Indy 500. Used actual drawing I acquired. Frame: 6 digit serial # indicating it was built Feb-March of 28. Frame is straight with no cracks or bends and remains stock. Front end is stock with leaf springs that have been chamfered and with liquid graphite. New shackles, bushings. Front cross member had to be modified to accept later model A engines as early mounts were hard bolted. Rear springs also redone. Engine is stock Model A, 200.5 cu in. that was checked for reliability using a Zenith carb. Carb was rebuilt and new choke rod installed. Runs good however NOT built for racing. Trans: replaced cluster gears and replaced all bearings. Top mount and shifting forks are rebuilt. Standard 3 speed Model A. Steering: 1930-31 Gemmer steering box that is good. I installed a short pitman arm so the steering is fast and responsive. Wiring: I used 3 new Model wiring looms for rebuild and is changed over to 12 volt system. Lights: 12 Hallogen fronts and LED rears for safety. Front lenses are fluted as originals were with new chrome rings. Radiator: New from Brass Works is heavy duty, large capacity for hot weather driving. Brakes: 4 NEW cast iron drums with new arced shoes and complete new hardware. You can skid all 4 tires in emergency stops. Backing plates were rebuilt to standard. Brakes do not pull sideways and brake rods and return springs are new. Tires are from 1935, 16\" tubeless radials with chrome hubcaps and beauty rings not quite half worn. Seating: Built and upholstered in red vinyl. Seat belts installed for safety. This car was hand built to be fun and great for zipping around town or going with your favorite partner to get a chocolate malt. I drive the car daily around town and to our local car shows. I am 5\'10 and weigh 190lbs. and it fits me however should you be a \"BIG GUY\" I\'m afraid you might not fit. Not trying to be blunt but honest. I am trying to be honest and truthful and have tried to answer and questions you may have. I am NOT a scam artist and have 2 other Model A\'s and love them dearly as I do this one, however, my reasons for selling this one is due to health considerations and hope you understand. Let me know if you have any questions. Asking $19,500
