Last Call!
Today is December 19th and there are only 12 days to the end of the year.  What does this mean?  It means, I have 4 submissions for the Calendar Girl Contest and 9 submissions for the Best Ride Contest.  And what does that mean?  So far, one lucky member has a 1 in 4 chance of winning the $1000 grand prize.  And one other member has a 1 in 9 chance of winning the $500 prize.  Now, I'm not the smartest man in the world, but I would say those are some pretty good odds.  So, let's get those pics in!  Now, here comes the disclaimer...I will need to have at least 15 submissions for each contest for it to a healthy competition.  Why? Because I make the rules.  ;-)  Once I get all the pics in, I will have a separate page showing the contestants and everybody will be able to vote for their favorite.
Thanks to all that have supported this effort so far.

Corvette vs XLR
I have thought about this for a couple of weeks now, and I don't how we can fix this for GM.  I love all cars, classics, muscle, vintage, exotic, foreign, domestic or whatever.  I have been reading about cars my entire life and I never understood where the Corvette lands in the GM line up.  I studied the Corvette a little and noticed that there are different levels of the Vette.  I need my Corvette fans to correct me here, but there has always been a "Z06" version of the Vette.  The 427 dual quads in the '60s all the way up to the recent Z06.  "What are you getting at Joseph?"  Well, Toyota has Lexus, Nissan has Infiniti, Honda has Acura, Ford has Lincoln/Mercury and Chevrolet has Cadillac. Right?  And shouldn't the Cadillac be bigger and better than Chevrolet?  Shouldn't the XLR be bigger and better? Faster? More exclusive?  Shouldn't the Z06 be a Cadillac?  But people want the Vette over the XLR.  Don't get me wrong, if anyone wants to give me a Vette or XLR, I'll take it.  But, logic should always prevail.  If I am paying almost $30k more for an XLR than a Vette, and the Vette beats the snot out of the XLR, why would I buy the XLR?  OK, the hard top convertible is pretty kick ass, but I think most of us would take the 0-60 time over the hard top.  Besides, I am sure the Vette will have a retractable hard top soon.
There is no question, the Vette is still one of the best cars in the world.  The value cannot be beat.  So, let's move over to the second part of my craziness.  Is the Vette an exotic?  A super sports car?  What is GM's answer to the Ford GT?  The Enzo?  Chrysler Firepower (if they make it)?  Porsche Carrera GT?  You get the picture.  I want a REAL American Super Car!  We had the Cobra from Shelby.  We had the Pantera by DeTomaso (I think that was American).  I want the next American Sports Car to take down the Bugatti!  We have already seen the success of the Ford GT, the buzz over the Firepower.  What's next?  I say a super car based on the Vette, but over in the Cadillac department.  It should be freaking awesome!  My father instilled in me at a young age, to always be the best at what I do, whatever that may be.  So I tell you GM, Ford and Chrysler, make the best car in every category.  You are doing great in every other category but the Super Car!  If you build it, we will definitely buy it.

Updates!
I have been talking about the Version 2.0 of my site for a couple of months and wanted to let you all know that it is slowly rolling out.  We have recently completed the new added search features for the Parts and Cars sections.  You can now search by state or city.  So, if you want to see all the cars for sale in your state, just populate that field and there you have it.  Also, the dynamic advertising is in full swing.  For every company that wishes to advertise on my site (that's how I keep it free for you, the member), I will now ask them for keywords.  So, if you are looking for a "Corvette Fender" and nobody in the community has one to sell, then you have the option of clicking on the the company's that specialize in Corvette body parts.  What does this mean?
Finally, the Encyclopedia of Cars is coming and, the most requested, Classic Car Club directory!

I want to wish all of you a very happy and safe holiday.  Please enjoy the rest of the year and I will talk to you next year.  I probably won't write a Newsletter next week, so enjoy what's left of 2007 and ring in the New Year with some screeeching tires!
From mine to yours,
Happy Holidays!
Joseph Montenegrino
