The stolen Mustang. (Handout / February 5, 2009)
The car was stolen from a detached garage one early evening in January. The thieves, police said, took the classic 1966 Ford Mustang, placed it on a red flatbed truck and hauled it away.
Suffolk police are asking for help in finding the '60s Pony car.
Police said the theft occurred at 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 3 in Selden. The car is a blue Mustang coupe with a white top.
Police describe the suspects as two men -- one, in his 40s, with a thin build, long hair and a mustache; the second, in his 30s, bald with a stocky build and wearing a black leather coat. A white van was also seen leaving the scene of the theft.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential and the caller will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
