Controversy!
So here I am trying to run a Classic Car website.  The first thing I needed to do was to select a name.  A name that will encompass what I am trying to do here.  I picked ClassicCarCommunity.com.  According to the Webster's Dictionary, one meaning for Classic is "serving as a standard of excellence: of recognized value."  Another meaning is "Traditional or enduring."  And finally "historically memorable."  Hmmm...but what does Car mean?  Car means "a vehicle moving on wheels."  Wow, mind boggling.  So, let's put the relevant meanings together.  A Classic Car is a historically memorable vehicle moving on wheels.  I know you all are thinking, what the hell is he talking about?  Let me explain.  I received a few emails explaining to me that I do not know what a Classic Car is.  According to the Classic Car Club of America they maintain that 1948 is the last year for the true classic.  Their definition of a Classic Car is "a fine or distinctive automobile, either American or Foreign built, produced between 1925 and 1948."  Let the argument begin.  First, let me say that I welcome all members of CCCA to join my site and make a difference.  I value and respect everything they have done for the classic car industry.  But, we need to correct the definition of Classic Car.  According to their definition the first mustang is not a classic.  The Shelby Cobra is not a classic.  Across the pond, the E-type Jag is not a classic.  The Porsche Speedster, the '62 Ferrari Testa Rossa, the Lamborghini Miura, the....well you get the picture.  All these cars changed the industry.  They are HISTORICALLY MEMORABLE.  One last thing, I don't understand the "foreign or domestic" part of the definition.  My father used to say, "when in Rome, do as the Romans."  Ok, he never coined that phrase, but when I was in Mexico and ordered a domestic cerveza (Spanish for beer) they gave me a Corona.  So, why have that in the definition?  Hmmm...that's a mystery.  Let me know what you think.

Newsletter Feedback
A few of you let me know that last weeks Newsletter was...ummm...a little weak...OK, it was really weak.  Here is my excuse, this is a crazy time of the year for me!  I got family barking down my back about the holidays, the wife is loco (Spanish for crazy), my Cutlass is in the shop and taking forever, work is driving me crazy to get the year-end appraisals done and the real estate market is in the crapper (I have my Real Estate license)!
So, instead of complaining, give me topics to write about.  Great news stories, great personal stories, great whatever.  Start talking people!  At any rate, thanks for the kind words and the great feedback.  Keep reading and writing.  Oh, and I DO spell check and do have someone proof read.  If I worried about grammir and speling, I could not get 'dis here newsledder out to y'all.

Calendar Girl
I just want to remind everyone that there is a $1000 grand prize to the lucky member that is selected to cover of ClassicCarCommunity.com Calendar.  I also want to clarify that is doesn't have to be you with the car.  If you are at a show and you were lucking to snap a picture of calendar girl in front of your car, send it in!  It could be worth $1000!  I have received some pics and will be posting them on the site, so that the members can vote for whom they want to be on the cover.  So, get them in here.  I only have 25 days left for the year....ah who am I kidding, I'll never make it by the end of the year.  OK, change of plans.  There will be a virtual calendar on the site.  12 pages, 12 pics, 12 members.  Let's get to work!

In the News
Mr. Carroll Shelby is bringing back the super snake!  All you need to do is buy a Mustang GT500 and send it to Vegas.  These cars are going to be a special edition, limited production destined to be a classic!  Oh wait, it's an '08.....

Thanks to Motor Trend for the article!

So there you have it.  I hope you have enjoyed this Newsletter.
