Super Camaro by Jim Pickering
When it was introduced the 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe as "the first effort since the 1963 Corvette to create a real American GT"

Introduced to the public on February 26, 1970, the 1970 Camaro series stayed in production for twelve years. This handsome design survived gas crises, "big bumper" redesigns, and emasculating emissions. Attesting to its popularity, the last year's production in 1981 totaled 126,139 units, almost the same as the 1970 model year, when 124,901 cars were produced.

In all, Chevrolet built 1,936,869 second-generation Camaros, which makes the very first one an important automobile. Chevy had two production lines, and this car -- L500001 -- was built in Van Nuys, California. It is the first of one of the longest lines of sports cars ever built. The other production line at Norwood, Ohio, is characterized with the prefix "N."

Members Questions
I have been trying to answer all of the members questions under the Q&A part of the site.  But, two have stumped me.  If you know the answer to the following questions, please log on and help a fellow member out.  Thanks.
1)
What other car could I take the front spindles off of to use on my 62 to convert it from 4 lug to 5 lug?
2)
I need to know whether seats from a 1963 rambler will fit into a 1958 rambler ambassador?
Click on the question if you know the answer, and logon.

It looks like I struck a cord when I told the story of "How I saved $800."  Many of you had the same kind of story's and I wanted to highlight another story from a member of the community.  Remember, logic prevails!  And if you don't have logic, ask someone who does :-).  Here is a story that shows you mechanics sometimes don't even open the hood.  Thanks to John Link, long time member, first time caller...or writer.
THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER WENT OUT ON MY 1995 FORD F150 VAN.  I REPLACED THE FUSE BUT IT BLEW AGAIN.  I THEN TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER, WHERE THEY CHARGED ME A DIAGNOSTIC FEE OF $75.00 AND INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW "CLOCK SPRING AND SHIFT LEVER IN THE STEERING COLUMN"  THIS DIDN’T MAKE SENSE TO ME, SO I TOLD THEM TO DO NOTHING AND I WOULD COME PICK IT UP.  I GOT TO SEARCHING AND FOUND AS I INSTALLED ANOTHER FUSE I COULD HEAR A SIZZLE ABOVE THE  MASTER CYLINDER.  I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT BRAKE FLUID SIZZLEING AS IT FLOWED THRU THE BRAKE SWITCH ON THE TOP OF THE MASTER CYLINDER, ACTUALLY ARCHING AND BURNING THE BRAKE SWITCH WIRES.  I REMOVED THE WIRES FROM THE SWITCH, INSTALLED A NEW FUSE AND THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED WORKING AGAIN.  THE SWITCH WAS AVAILABLE AT THE AUTO PARTS STORE, BUT THE CONNECTOR WAS NOT AVAILABLE.  THE CONNECTOR WAS PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS AND I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HARNESS TO GET A NEW CONNECTOR TO GO TO THE SWITCH.  SO, MY FIX WAS TO PUT PUSH ON CONNECTORS ON THE TWO WIRES GOING TO THE SWITCH AND MAKE A WATERPROOF CONNECTION WITH SILACONE SEALANT.  WORKED GREAT !!  (THIS IS THE BEST PART)  I WENT BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND GOT MY DIAGNOSTIC FEE BACK!  IF THE MECHANIC HAD OPENED THE HOOD AND LOOKED AT THE MASTER CYLINDER HE WOULD COULD HAVE SEEN THE BURNT WIRES.

So there you have it.  I hope you have enjoyed this Newsletter, if not let me know.  And don't just say "You Stink!"
Tell me why I stink.
