It's the 22nd year classic cars storm the isle of Coronado for MotorCars on MainStreet, an ongoing tradition that takes place alongside the city's coveted Flower Show Weekend.
Convertibles, roadsters, trucks, street rods and other custom rides — all of which rolled out of the factory before 1973 — gather at Isabella and Orange Avenues, one block from the beach, to flaunt their fancy paint jobs and meaty engines.
More than 400 entrants will compete for the title of Best in Show. Rock to live entertainment by Tommy Price & The Stillettos and Scooby will spin Solid Gold Rock in the Park. Thousands of spectators can vote for their favorite entry in a People’s Choice award and viewing is free.
Come celebrate Chevrolet’s Centennial and get a sneak peek at the 2012 Corvette Centennial Edition, courtesy of so-sponsor Ron Baker Chevrolet.
Get from one side of the island to the other easily using the FREE trolley. The trolley will run all day on Sunday taking visitors from the Car Show to the Hotel del Coronado, through the downtown with stops at the famous Flower Show & Book Fair and the Ferry Landing MarketPlace.
The cars rally rain or shine, but any Southern Californian — grease monkey or not — knows to expect the latter. Car registrations are $30 before April 15 and $35 after, space permitting. Register at CoronadoMainStreet.com or call (619) 437-0254 for more information. |
