Dude, Don't worry about it. As for the question you asked, sounds like the body man is doing his job. Removing the VIN tag would allow for proper sanding, primering, refinishing etc. He, or the shop involved will more than likely re attaced it with the correct rivots, adhesives, decall, etc, all available to his/her / you etc. Not to worry, sleep soundly..... Mark I have even removed my VIN from My personal car and had it replicated so as it would be new and fresh!
