Electrical issue...1955 Chevrolet BEL AIR TOWNSMAN |
August 7th, 2019 09:00:26 am, posted by Larry Akers |
Hello all, I have a 1955 Bel Air Townsman 4 door wagon. It has a 2003 4.3L Vortec with the 4L60E transmission. I have owned this car for about 15 years and driven it in this current configuration about 30K miles. My reason for updating from the original 265CI with powerglide was reliability and fuel mileage. It has been a very economical (23-30MPG) and reliable car for many years. We have been in the process of moving back to Colorado from North Florida and the car sat for several months in the Florida garage. When I started the car it has a serious miss and the electric cooling fan starts and runs continuously even when the car is cold. I have verified that the AC is not turned on so I do not think that is not the reason for the cooling fan running. I have changed several parts including, mass air flow sensor, cam position sensor, crank position sensor, plugs, wires, cap & rotor, )2 sensor (I only have one), temp sending unit, and probably more without any success. Anyone know a good mechanic near Walsenburg? Thanks, Larry
