18th Annual GTO Classic Weekend

August 15th, 2008
From 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

18th Annual GTO Classic Weekend
A Great Lakes GTOAA Regional Meet
This event is open to ALL GTOs...  Old and new!

Friday Night, August 15: Come spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday, or all week long if you want. It’s Woodward week and the Woodward GTO Tigers Classic Weekend. If you have not experienced it there is just no way to describe it other than it is like a step back in time, to the ‘50’s and ‘60’s. There is something in the air that sets the mood for those good ole days. Cruising starts at least the week before and the crescendo builds throughout the week. The club has arranged for special room rates at the Marriott for the week. If you have never stayed at the Marriott you owe it to your significant other to get away from home and have a great time doing what we all love to do with our Goats. Even if you live nearby, there is something about the atmosphere created by hanging out with others and being able to enjoy the parking lot party at the end of the day. We plan on Cruising Woodward Friday night for the “Kick Off, “ and then from 9:00pm to 11:00pm there will be a parking lot get together at the Marriott patio. Refreshments will be made available from the hotel for a moderate fee. If you are in the mood for extended hours stick with the Canadian gang.

Saturday, August 16: The Famous Woodward Dream Cruise, the worlds largest automobile event. Don’t worry about  the crowds; the WGT Tigers have you taken care of. When you pre-register, you will be reserved for a parking space. We will have a home parking area on Woodward for a place to come and rest, watch the cars and hang out.  It is the most cost effective site that we are able to procure. At present we are working on a food vendor for a luncheon at the parking site. Saturday night we will again gather in the hotel parking lot for another round of refreshments and  camaraderie. It is our club’s 20th Anniversary and we want to celebrate.
YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR THE SHOW TO RESERVE A SPOT

Sunday August 17: For Show Day on Sunday we are not going to begin until 10:00am so that everyone may come out rested and relaxed. The “Marriott Chef “provides an excellent breakfast buffet. What a way to start the day! The show will take on a different format this year in order that it may run smoothly. Registration will be from 10:00am till 12:00pm. There will be no classification. Show car parking will be on Centerpoint Drive like we have done in the past, but now you will be able to park next to your buddy. After registration closes and ALL cars are on the field, voting ballots will be passed out. This is a popular vote show with over 100 awards to be given out. Awards will be 90 embroidered Polo style golf shirts and the Top 10 Awards will be embroidered Jackets. Plus there will be other specialty awards. Vote counting will be done electronically courtesy of the Chicago Cruisn’Tigers GTO club. On the field, entertainment will be provided by Craig Parrish, organizer of the “Old 27 Tour”. Voting will end at 2:00pm. Indoor entertainment will be provided by, none other, than the Vintage Voices of Marvin Minarich, at 2:30pm in one of the Mariott banquet rooms. Awards will be given at 3:00pm. WAIT!, THAT’S NOT ALL! After the awards we will gather up the Goats and cruise to a local Sunday night Hot Spot for a bite to eat and even more fun. We’ll be “Setting the Pace for ‘08”
