carb tuning1964 Buick LE SABRE |
January 21st, 2009 09:33:17 am, posted by jason burch |
I have a 1964 Buick LeSabre with the stock 300ci and Rochester 2 barrel carb. My question is this, what is the basic tuning/adjustment procedure for the carb. ? I realize that it should be pretty straight forward, but I am having a little difficulty. I have replaced the points and condensor and have the engine properly timed. I have messed with the carb a little and have it idling and running pretty well, but throttle response seems poor. There seems to be a lot of delay between giving it throttle and the engine reving up, and acceleration is poor. I realize that it is no hot rod and have no wish to drive it as such. It just seems like it should not be as sluggish as it is currently. What is a good starting point for the mixture screws? Is there an idle speed adjustment other than the screw on the throttle lever?
Thanks in advance,
Jason
