As I remember my vehicles. Years ago I owned a 1968 Mustang with a 289 CID Engine. Its performance was similar to what yours is displaying. I found that a point gap of .021 in. corrected the problem. Your distributors vacuum advance actually changes the point gap to advance the ignition timing. Hope this helps. That's as I remember it!
