Has you engine ever been bored out? If so, I know that the walls of the cylinder may be too thin and you always have overheating problems. I live in AZ and I know about over heating. I had a 289 bored over that overheated all the time. I have a stock 390 that was never bored that ran like a champ. Other things to consider, thermostat may not be working, or kicking in too late...your radiator may be plugged...water pump may not be working efficiently...yadda yadda yadda.
