1971 Buick Electra 225
1971 Buick Electra 225 - 2 Door Hardtop - Model 48237. The notes included here are from a Certified Appraiser associated with the International Vehicle Appraisers Network (I-VAN) from an appraisal that was done in 2009. The vehicle was purchased by the current owner (4th owner) in April 2008 from a party in Grand Junction, Colorado. The car is all original except for one repaint. Engine/Engine Compartment: The engine is a 445 cid with 4 barrel carburetor. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. The distributor has been converted to electric ignition. Head gaskets, manifold gaskets and all the belts have been renewed. The engine compartment is very neat and clean, original in appearance but not detailed to show quality. Some minor superficial chrome deterioraiton is visible on the interior of the front bumper. Chasis: The chasis is very clean and neat with only superficial rusting. The undercarrige has never been restored or repainted. The exhaust is new. There are front disc and rear drum brakes, renewed at 58000 miles. Tires are P235-75 R15 radials, with original hubcaps. Interior: The interior is clean. All chrome, door panels, door jams and doorsills are in excellent condiiton. The dash pad and all instrumentation are in excellent condition. A/C and all gauges work. Seats are the original leather seats with vinyl trim. The front seat is a power bench with fold down arm rest and windows are power. Left side mirror is remotely operated. The radio is an aftermarket stereo. (The original radio is included in this sale.)The door gasket rubber is in good to excellent condition. Carpets and headliner are excellent. The trunk compartment shows some signs of use but is basically in very good condition. The sheet metal is very solid. Jacking instructions are still affixed to trunk lid. The spare tire matches the other tires. All the air recirculatuion features in the trunk, including the external louvers and rear deck ventilation are in tact and functional. Exterior: The exterior is in excellent condition. The entire exterior was repainted in Chevrolet Cottonwood Green Metallic paint, which was the closest match available. Tape mark edges are visible all around the doors, hood and trunk. The body is very straight and the magnet test indicated there were no areas of body filler. The vehicle is equipped with rear fender skirts. The chrome, tinted glass, lights and lenses are all in excellent condition. Vinyl roof is in excellent condition. Summary/Comments: This is an excellet survivor car. The vehicle appears as new. The only item keeping this vehicle from a full number two car (2=Very Good) is the superficial rust on the chasis. The single repaint and mechanical repairs are well done and the engine compartment could easily be returned to factory original condition. The low mileage (72,000) is consistent with the condition of the vehicle. Also included with the car is an original 1971 Service Manual.
