New Muscle!
At Barrett-Jackson they were promoting the new revival of the muscle car wars.  They were selling the first SRT8 Challenger, the first GT500KR and the first ZR1 vette.  And soon to follow will be the Camaro.  I can't wait.  I am so proud of the American car companies in returning to their heritage.  Two questions arise, what are they going to offer and is it going to be affordable?  I was just a glimmer in my parent's eye when the first muscle cars came to market, but from what I understand the added features were crazy expensive.  "$485 for the HEMI engine...Are you Drunk?!"  "Shelby what? Who's Shelby?"
Today there are going to be a lot of "investors" buying up these cars and parking them in their living room in hopes they strike it rich 50 years from now.  Please don't.  Part of the story about these cars is those teenagers, tweenies and 30 something's bought them and beat the hell out of them.  Why do you think they are so valuable now?  I do not know how many story's I heard at the auctions that started with "When I was a kid, I saw this Camaro tear down the street..."  Even my dad told me stories that there was this one guy who had a Fairlane that nobody could beat.."He musta hada 'dat damn 427 in it!"  So, what I'm getting at is this...get out there and have some fun.  You can always replace the car, but you can't replace the memories.
Are they affordable?  No.  But they weren't back then either.  This makes the stories a lot better.  What are they going to offer?  Here is where the big three need to poll the people.  I think they are headed down the right track because I have seen some surveys floating around asking us what we would pay for and what we like.  At any rate, I think the next 5 years should be great and I can't wait to pull up next to the Challenger, the King of Road and/or the Camaro...then smoke them in my Navigator ;-)...by the way, anybody wanna buy my Navigator?
Finally, be safe.  We can't race on the streets like they used to, but we can take these cars to the track and light 'em up.  I just had an idea...my IT guys won't like it, but I will have a link on the site to find all the race tracks in the nation so that if you want to tear it up, you can do it in a safe environment.
So, what have we learned?  Investors piss off, order what you can afford, and keep spinning those tires.

The new Knight Rider!
I was watching TV the other day and saw a commercial for the new series of Knight Rider.  I looooved that show when I was a kid, so I hope that NBC will get it right.  What I mean is, I have been watching the new Bionic Woman series and lost interest.  Why? Because they don't have the slow motion run or the cool music.  "Dunt dunt dunt daaaaa..."  No, I'm not a little tipsy.  All I am saying is NBC needs to keep the car, keep the music and keep us interested.  Shelby GT500KR with all the fixin's?  Check.  Scrolling red light? Check.  Correct music?  Check.  David Hasslehoff? No (thank god).  Great writing? Gulp!
At any rate, it looks like fun!  I have posted a video on the main page of the site so check it out.

My New Purchase!
One of the luxuries of living in the desert is finding cars with no rust!  My brother-in-law got ants in his pants to sell his '68 Dodge Super Bee so that he could purchase a Vette.  He did a lot of work to it (interior, tranny, rear end etc) and was going to sell it to some Tom, Dick or Harry to reap all the rewards.  I told to keep his pants on (you know, the ones with the ants in it) and that I would buy it.  At least someone in his family would reap the rewards, not some Tom, Dick or Harry.  That's just funny to say...Tom, Dick, and Harry.  So, I paid his price for a sweet 1968 Dodge Super Bee.  The engine was lost years ago but we have all the parts for a 440 six pack.  Here is the other interesting thing about the bee, its build date is January 23rd from Los Angeles.  I have already sent Galen a letter to find the background on this car.  I went on SuperbeeRegistry.com and found 2 cars built on January 15th from Detroit, but their sequence number is later than mine.  So, I may have one of the first Super Bee's made, if not, the first Super Bee that came out of Los Angles.  If anyone has any insight on this let me know (or you want to see some pictures), post a comment on my photo journal.  I want to thank my Dad for letting me store it at his place.  I owe you a shot of Sambuca!

So there you have it.  I hope you have enjoyed this Newsletter.
If not let me know.  And don't just say "You Stink!"
Tell me why I stink.
