Happy New Year!
Remember when everyone was paranoid about Y2K?  That was 8 years ago.  We can laugh about it now, because we are all OK.  I mean really...planes falling out of the sky...defense system crashing.  To quote my father, "We can put a man on the moon, but we can't fix the computer."  I think everyones father uses that quote.  Anyway, I just wanted to remember that time.  Gives me chuckle.
I would like to wish all of you a Happy and Safe 2008!

How to Yield!
When I was 16, I got pulled over 4 times and received 4 different speeding violations.  All this in one year right after I got my license.  My dad never knew about them...so sorry 'bout that dad, you'll be alright.  I bring this up because at that time you were able to go to traffic school for each different city you received the ticket in.  My first ticket was in Paradise Valley, AZ and I went to school.  Second was in Scottsdale and I went to school.  My third was again in Paradise Valley and knowing that this city was not "automated", I lied and went to school again.  Then they changed the law and you were now only able to go to school once in the entire state of Arizona and every 2 years.  This wiped out my "record."  So, my fourth ticket was in Scottsdale (very automated) again and I went to school.  By the end of this class, I could teach the darn thing.  "So what Joseph, what's the point?"  My point is, in one year I learned more about driving than a person learns in their entire life.
So, one day I was going to work and my commute takes me onto the highway for two exits.  The on-ramp has two lanes that merge into one and then merge onto the highway.  Here's my rant, to all the people out there that MUST speed up to be in front of me.....why?  And to all the people that do not know how to merge, keep reading.  It's simple....you go, I go, you go, I go...that's it.  If you are sitting pole position at the light before the merge, the faster car is first, then the other pole position car is second.  From there, just alternate...please people, an extra 20 feet ahead is nothing.  Trust me, I drive fast...real fast!  There is a difference between a fast driver who knows the rules and a fast driver who doesn't.  The one who doesn't know the rules causes accidents.  I have been driving for 20 years and no accidents....that were my fault (knock on wood).
Then there is the car that leaves about 6 inches from them and the car in front so that you can't merge.  I drive a Navigator...trust me...if I want to get it there, I can get in.  But I don't, I just throw the disgusted look and move in behind them.  I do then accidently turn my highbeams on and blind the hell out of them...just kidding, calm down.  Don't do that.  My goal here is to get that person to understand that you are merging and to understand the rules of the road.
Let me know what you think, click here!
That's it.  Next week I will talk about the cell phone while driving controversy.

Calendar Girl Update
The board of directors of ClassicCarCommunity...my wife and I... have decided to extend the contest to the end of June this year.  We really didn't have a choice because I found out that I have to get the pics and information to the printers well in advance to make the calendars.  And that I should have them available for the members before the year is up.  In other words, I messed up the timing.  Sorry 'bout that.  What does this mean?  You have no good reason NOT to get those pics to me!  Show off that car and strike a pose!  It's worth $1000! I will have all the submission on the site shortly for the members to vote.  Thanks.

Best Ride Contest
The  Best Ride Contest is in full swing!  I have received several submissions and will soon have these posted on the site for you all to vote.  I will continue to accept submissions until I have that portion of the site completed, probably in 2 weeks.  So keep sending them in...Click Here!  Once elevated to the site, I will give 1 month for all to vote for their favorite ride.  From there, I will award the winner with a $500 grand prize and a spotlight on the main page.  Thanks to all that have submitted.  It's only going to get bigger and better.

So there you have it.  I hope you have enjoyed this Newsletter.
If not let me know.  And don't just say "You Stink!"
Tell me why I stink.
