After being shut down for nearly three months, the Lake Barkley Classic Car Museum is set to reopen today.
The museum, located on Ky. 293, just off Interstate 24 Exit 45 in Eddyville, will open to the public at 9 a.m. today.
The museum, which first opened in March 2007, closed its doors on July 6. Owner Don Phillips blamed the closure on a nationwide economic downturn.
The property, many of the museum’s vintage cars and other historic memorabilia was put up for auction in August.
This time around, Phillips is trying a different angle.
Originally, some of the classic cars displayed in the museum were available for sale; now, Phillips plans to sell more of those vehicles, thus changing the museum’s inventory more frequently.
He will also be taking classic cars on consignment for display. Auctions will be held every six months to help boost revenue for the museum’s operation.
The stroll down memory lane costs $8 per person. Children 10 and under are admitted free. For groups of 10 or more, admission is $6 each.
The museum will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Those interested in putting their cars in the museum on consignment can call the museum at (270) 388-1962.
